No meme in this post!

  • Jul. 9th, 2009 at 10:16 AM
So, I forgot about LJ until [info]brandijeune reminded me last night.

Two weeks, and I don't have much to say. I went camping with some friends at Seefeld, a nearby town on Ammersee. It was a good weekend, we even celebrated 4th of July a bit, considering there were two yankees with us :)

Canada Day was freaking AMAZING. Over 50 people showed, we sang O Canada twice drunken at the beer garden. Brilliant.

Video...I am across from the big flag )

Met some new guys that are replacing some of my friends. They all come from England, and they're super funny/awesome. Hell, they came to celebrate Canada Day, how cool of them ;)

What else...hmm...not much is new. I will be in Spain this time tomorrow, so that's exciting! wooohooo! :) I really have no plans while I am there. 5 days on the beach! :)

Perhaps a post when I get back :)

Life...

  • Jun. 21st, 2009 at 9:12 PM
Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. I had a great birthday!

I am no longer a teenager. It feels wonderful. Tom and Ulli totally went overboard and are paying for my skydiving (about $300 Canadian!) so that is exciting. I bought myself a plane ticket to Spain. Going July 10th-15th and am soooo excited to see/swim in/relax by the ocean. Hopefully [info]psalm_89 will meet me there!

The babies turned one on Friday. Very cool. They were being very adorable and I just love them so much. It's going to be hard to leave them in October.

Leaving, right. I leave end of Sept/beginning of October to either Edinburgh or London. I can't decide which I'd prefer. The work is similar in both places, and my work visa is good for either. London would be great to see, and I'd be right downtown, but Edinburgh looks nicer to actually live in. I have no idea.

Been busy lately, sorry for the lack of updating.

Train ride...

  • Jun. 10th, 2009 at 2:23 AM
Tonight was the goodbye party for Bailie, my Canadian friend. She didn't show up until 11:30, and I had planned on leaving by 10:30...so clearly I was out way too late. When I finally left, I missed by train by 50 seconds. Damn. So, I waited for 40 minutes until my next one...

Instead of sitting at the same station, time goes by faster if I catch each train as far as I can in the direction I need to go. On the S1 on the way to Laim there were 3 Canadian guys on the train from Calgary. I talked to them for a bit, they were crazy and pretty drunk. I had so much Canada crap with me, because bailie left me all her touristy stuff for Canada Day :D THEN I get off at Laim and catch the S5 to Westkreuz. When I get off, there is a girl in a dirndl on the platform, talking to a guy in lederhosen on the train...well, the lederhosen boy decides to keep the door open so he can talk to her longer. The conductor gets mad and starts yelling, then the door doesn't close still, so security AND the conductor are down there yelling at this guy, it was awesome. Then I got on my train home and there were these friggin' guys from Slovenia talking bout headcheese really inappropriate, disgusting things and how they haven't showered in days. disgusting.

That is my exciting news for the day.
Actually, I have much much more, but am not allowed to discuss it quite yet. :)

Okay, since [info]brandijeune demanded that I update...here we go.

Rock IM Park was amazing. I will break it down in to days ;)

Freitag:

Sarah, Brooke and I got a Bayern-ticket(a train ticket that lets you use any train within the state and only costs about $10) and went to Nuremberg. The festival grounds were PACKED, but we actually ended up getting a very good camping spot near Alternastage. We had to push a fence back a bit, so I don't think we were supposed to camp there...but we did anyway.

The first set I watched was New Found Glory. They were good, but the sound SUCKED. Center stage had issues all weekend, I hated the sound quality unless I was front and center. The vocals needed to be turned up...other than that, it was good. Next up was The All American Rejects. By this time, Sarah and I had pushed through the crowd and were almost at the very front. The mosh pit got VERY warm, and we were dying of heat/dehydration. I was surprised at how much people actually moshed to All American Rejects...haha. Pathetic. The Subways came on next and we only stayed for one song, because I felt as if I was about to pass out...so we went to a different stage and watched Chris Cornell (from Audioslave & Soundgarden) I was not too impressed, but was happy that he played Black Hole Sun. Next came MIA. a girl from Berlin. Crappy music, interesting stage performance. After that we went back to centerstage and watched some Billy Talent. For some reason, I thought they'd be crappy live...but they did suprisingly well. Then we watched The Kooks, whom I enjoyed, but they played some slow songs that I didn't find appropriate for the crowd. Peter Fox was the last show we watched (we were too tired to haul our asses up to see Dir En Grey) and he was AMAZING. A VERY good show. His band consisted of about 15 people, and he had excellent choreography and it was a great set overall.

In the concert area, we weren't allowed bottles, so we DIED of dehydration the first day. We were allowed tetrapacks, so the next day we bought juice and used tape to make a sling type thing and wear it like a messenger bag...all the cool kids were doing it. Mine came off in the mosh pit though. We also weren't allowed cameras, so I had mine in my bra...unfortunately the lanyard on it snagged my piercing and it hurt like a BIOTCH. But, all is okay.

Samstag:

Expatriate was okay. Again, the sound sucked at center stage. Scouting for girls put on a good show, I like them a lot more live than I do on record. I spent almost all day at Alternastage watching: Dragonforce, Shinedown, Enter Shikari, Papa Roach, Staind, Killswitch Engage, Marilyn Manson, and KoRn. They were all great with the exception of Papa Roach, I didn't like him at all. Marilyn Manson was great. He got some guys phone from the audience and made a call..."Is this the mother of whoever owns this phone? This is Marilyn Manson and %^#&#%&#% *insert explicit content here* God it was priceless. I was suprised he played Sweet Dreams, but wow...it was fantastic. Blew me away. KoRn did an awesome set as well. I wondered over to centerstage a bit during shows and caught some of Placebo, and The Killers. Nice sets. It rained a little bit, so we made sweet ponchos out of garbage bags. YAY! HOBOS!

Sonntag:

Sevendust, Trivium, and Flogging Molly were the first 3 at Centerstage, luckily the sound was much better...though I was in the pit the entire time. Flogging Molly was the BEST show I have EVER seen. The crowd was pretty tame, which sucked...but then it started to rain, and then POUR. I don't mean Germany "pour" either..I mean it actually poured, like a good ole Vancouver Island type of rain. Everyone went crazy, we were all soaked, it had been so hot that there was just STEAM coming from the pit. Fuck it was AMAZING. I definitely plan on seeing Flogging Molly again...soon!

Sarah and I went back to the tent to get changed (we weren't watching the show together, though somehow I managed to run in to her on the way back to the tent...weird) I was actually completely dry from my belly button down, because the pit had been soooo packed. The rest of me was soaked, and in the 5 mins it took to get to the tent, the rest of me was soaked as well. Next I saw Soundtrack of Our Lives, A Day To Remember, and someone else I can't remember. All good shows, it was nice to be indoors at Clubstage. Then came the good ole Canadians. Alexisonfire did great, and made the BIGGEST mosh circle I have EVER seen. Towards the end of the show, I decided I wanted to crowd surf. I somehow got my point across to these two german guys and they threw me up to the crowd. It was AWESOME. Scary, though...and security hurt my shoulder when they pulled me down. SOOOOO WORTH IT. Ic aught a bit of Raemonn, he was good, but not really my style...then I watched Bloc Party, Jan Delay & Disko No.1, and Mando Diao. It POURED again, I packed up, and went home early with Balt.

We caught the ICE, which is the fast train, and it was soooo nice. Not only was it warm and comfortable, I barely even felt like we were moving...though we were...at almost 200km/h! Got home fairly late, but it was nice to sleep in my own bed.

Other than that, not much is new. June will be a busy month. Bailey's going away party is tonight, I have a running date, annnd my birthday is soon! :)

Oh, and Mr.Man invited me home to Czech Republic with him. He's going in a few weeks...I probably won't go. Crazyness though. *squeeeeeeee*

:)

From [info]xbluedawn

1. How did you come to Germany? Would you have gone to a different country instead?

I DID choose a different country, but ended up here anyway. My original plan was to go to the UK, I had a job lined up but it didnt work out. Since I got my work visa, I plan on going there after. I was speaking with many families online about being their nanny...and I ended up liking the German family best. Plus, I wanted cultural experience and figured Germany is probably a lot culturally different than England.

2. Do you have any pet peeves?

I don't like it when people crack their knuckles. I also don't like it when they chew their nails. Though, chewing their nails has more to do with how dirty they are and the fact they are sucking on pretty much everything they've touched that day. If they washed their hands first I wouldn't mind :)

3. Is there a celebrity that you absolutely cannot stand? If so, who and why?

Not really. I am not huge in to celebrities, to be honest. I never watch TV, and rarely watch movies. I guess, if you call him a celebrity, I can't stand Gordon Campbell.

4. Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Does candy count? I eat so much I think I might have diabetes by the time I am 30. ;)
Ohhh, and I really enjoy watching men in lederhosen. *blushes*

5. If your life was a movie, what would the genre be? Why?

A dramatic indie-flick most likely. I  am weird enough that it would be indie, and somehow I attract drama, even though I can't stand it. Hopefully there'd be some comedy in there too :)

So, I had a wonderful Easter weekend. I have been neglecting LJ and will try to catch up on my FL soon.

Thursday John, Laree, Jayne, Jacki, and I, took the train to Salzburg. We spent the day there walking around, going to the castle, and lots of fun stuff. It is a really beautiful city. We took the train back at got to Munich around 9pm.

At midnight, Jayne and I got on a bus to the Czech Republic. We arrived at 5am and walked around the city for a few hours, after dropping our heavy bags at the train station. After SIX HOURS of walking, we went for our FOUR HOUR walking tour. It was really good, but we were exhausted. Our tour guide was very nerdy and talked a lot. Jayne almost asked him to come out with us. hah. She chickened out though. After the tour we checked in to our hostel, layed down for a bit then went to a cafe for some traditional Czech food. It was delicious, but verrry greasy. Across the road from the cafe was a bar that Mr.Man (who lived in Prague for 4 years for school) suggested to us. We wanted to make Czech friends, so we went and had a beer. It was crowded, and nobody new english so we left. We wandered around, met some Brits, decided we were too tired to go out and headed back to the hostel. Met some cool people there too, including a Canadian that lives in Frankfurt!

We slept in on Saturday, walked in to Old Town for food, and went on a river cruise. On the way back from the river cruise we found a brochure on the dirty czech ground, and picked it up. haha. It was for the SEX MACHINE MUSEUM, which the guys at the hostel had told us about the night before. So, we went. But, on the way there we saw a piercing place so I went and got a piercing. Yes, a piercing in the Czech Republic. Hope I didnt get AIDS. The museum was pretty funny, they even had 1925 porn showing. Brilliant. I felt so immature. We walked around more, then got on the bus at midnight. Good times.

Back in Munich and it has been sunny, and about 20 degrees everyday for the last 2 weeks. I have a good tan already. I love it!

Have to go get my hikiing backpack form the city, will update agian soon...I think.

Meme stolen from <lj user= )

Today was a splendid day. Some friends and I went to the Englischer Garten and hung out around the Kleinhesseloher See and had a picnic! Jacki and I had another PJ day today, and Jayne forgot about it so she was in normal clothes. Bailie, a girl that lives in my suburb (originally from Saskatchewan!) came too, but she was super hungover. Too Finnish friends, Iina and Sonja, came for awhile, and Carl, a Swede, hung out for a bit when he wasn't playing soccer with random Germans.

Mr. Man came too. That is what I am going to refer to the boy I like as. haha. I met him a long time ago at a friends going away party, and I was pretty intoxicated so I wasn't sure if I liked this guy or not. I have been thinking about him a lot, but I wasn't sure if I had "beer goggles" on or not when we met. I didn't. He is as sweet and cute as I thought, if not more. I hadn't seen him since this going away thing, which was over a month ago, and I have no idea when I will see him again...hopefully more often, as he said he wants to hang out with us at the park more often! yay!

I got a sunburn today. It was sooo nice out. A bit overcast, but the temperature was perfect. I hope the snow is done, one more dump of snow and I will not be happy.

I had a goal of swimming 2-3 times a week this month, but it takes over 1.5hrs to get to Olympia Park, where I like to swim. Plus they jacked up the price. Soooo, I am going to walk/cycle more instead. There is a nice trail near the river where I live, and it goes to the next town, 10km away. That will be a nice ride one day I think. Hopefully I don't get lost. ;)

Going to Prague on friday! WOOHOOO!

Bright, Sunshiney Day

  • Apr. 3rd, 2009 at 11:20 AM
So, I have been hella busy, and when I am not busy, the weather has been beautiful so I have been out and about.

Plans for Amsterdam changed, and we are no longer going for Easter, but instead I am going to Prague. Woopie.

I have all 3 kids to myself today, and they are ALL asleep. I love my life. I thought this day would suck, mostly because its 14hrs of work...but its not bad at all so far. Mind you, I have only been working 6 hours.

PJ day this weekend. So stoked.
I always say I will write later, and I never write anything interesting...heh...
Maybe later. :)

Jet lag

  • Mar. 27th, 2009 at 8:50 PM
Is it still jet lag if my sleep patern follows that of China's time zone, rather than Canada's? My sleeping patterns are totally screwed. I have been waking at 3am, up and ready to go for a day, so yesterday I took a short nap in the afternoon, stayed out until 2:30am, and got up at 7:30am. I figured if I had a short nap today, I'd be tired at night. Well, turns out I set my alarm for 4AM instead of 4PM, and I slept for 5 hours. shoot. Now it is going on 9pm, and I feel like I just got a good nights sleep. I would have kept sleeping, because I thought it was morning, only I heard Lisa running around, and it was dark outside. This means she hadnt gone to bed yet. Damn. Jet lag has never bothered me until now. I shouldn't have slept on the plane. Grr.

Things in Munich are going pretty well, it is nice to be back, although a short visit home was not a bad thing. I was offered a free trip to Neuschwanstein for tomorrow, but I know the sleeping thing will get in the way.

OH! I am going to Amsterdam for Easter! I am so excited. We are renting a car and roadtripping it, which will be aweeeesome. Jayne, Jackie, Balt, and I. 3 girls and a gay man. Lovely. 3 people I know are going next weekend, so it's too bad that didn't line up. I'll definitely write up a spiel about it when I return, because I know epic times will be had.

AND, this weekend is STARKBIERFEST! aka "Strong beer festival" 10%alcohol. Served by the litre. This could get messy. But it won't, cause I'm a good girl. ;)

I fail.

  • Mar. 19th, 2009 at 11:39 AM
Hello, LJ. It's been too long.

Having a good visit at home. I got here 2am Friday. Jet lag didn't hit me hard at all, I was tired at night time, I just needed a little extra sleep. Friday Marlene and I went shoping in Nanaimo, and then at night I had a lovely dinner with Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents, etc. Saturday I had all my siblings (minus Jamie, he was stuck on the tug boat) over for lasagna! Mmmm! Then my sisters, Brandi, and I went to the Voodoo with Terrissa and her new boyfriend (whom I actually liked! Normally she picks losers) Sunday I went to church, and hung out with Brandi, after seeing Becca and Wills place. It is so cute, and right on the ocean! Monday was spent with Brandi again because she was supposed to be leaving, but then decided to stay the night. Tuesday I drove Brandi to the train (HA! Our train is disgraceful) in Courtenay, and then stayed the night with [info]scar_let_kiss and good times were had. We went to Gulliver's, and some other place near by. Had a pint of Guinness, since it was St.Patty's afterall, and played some pool. It was really great seeing her. Yesterday was spent with Marlene, and Dyllon. Went for coffee, drove around, ate lots of food, good times.

NOW, Wedding wedding wedding. After more visiting tomorrow, I have rehearsal dinner, and then wedding on Saturday, and back to Munich Sunday! Sooo much travelling.

I missed the ocean.
Oh, I also found out I had a boyfriend I didn't know about. heh. It made me laugh, but it made my heart hurt a little too.

Speaking of hurt, I walked in to a metal bar at Movie Gallery and hurt my kidney. I have a HUGE bruise on my tummy, and it is yucky. Oh, and we told Nelson I was pregnant and he fell for it and it was priceless. I couldn't hold in the laughter anymore when he started patting my back telling me everything would be okay. :) Sucker.

That's all for now.
My apollogies.

Where did February go?

  • Feb. 28th, 2009 at 7:30 AM
I have been so busy. I am still alive though.

So, the cool guy I met at the house warming party a few weeks ago hasn't talked to me since...until I got a message from him last night, asking if I want to go to P1 (one of the nicest clubs on the city) but I can't go. Quite sad.

I met the strange boy yesterday. He isn't strange at all. We're hanging out all day, doing touristy stuff. I am super excited to wear my dirndl to Hofbrauhaus :D

I hope my FL is doing awesome, I haven't read for abit, but have done some scanning. I will read every word one day, I promise.

I go home in less than 2 weeks for a visit. yikes.

cheers!

Uhg.

Life is being crazy busy and blah.
I will updated when I am not so exhausted.

If it is not before the 20th, happy birthday to you. I miss you more than you think I do.

Audrey Hepburn

  • Feb. 16th, 2009 at 7:37 PM
"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for
helping others."

Lauren's House Warming Party

  • Feb. 14th, 2009 at 7:22 PM
Hah, so Brooke and I went to Laurens house warming party last night. Lauren used to be a teacher at the kindergarten that Brooke's kids (she's a nanny) go to. Brooke didnt want to go alone, so I went with her. We were going to have two beers, then join some other au pairs at Ned Kellys (Aussie Pub). "Were" as in, we didn't.

We brought our own beer, figuring Lauren wasn't supplying, but she had huge cases filled with beer. We filled her whole bathtub with it. Crazy. So, free beer, cool people, and a good time. We didn't leave her place until 7:30am. We were one of the first to leave...but, there weren't many of us altogether, and when we stopped at McDonalds, the others saw us and stopped so we walked with them to the subway.

I met: Finbar, a gay Irish guy who is 36. Going on 37.
Mel: Another Irish guy, very funny, and will ask ANY question to get conversation rolling.
Ken: A Kevin Spacey lookalike. Well, he looked like him after 6 beer and a long night.
Jarrod: A Texan that has lived here for awhile, teaching english. No worries, he doesn't have a southern accent.
Sylvia: A Spanish girl that has been here 12+ years.

I felt like a baby.
There were others there too, but I forget their names, and those people are the ones that styaed until 730am. hah. Gooood times.

I enjoy being single.

I am glad I didn't have anyone tying me down. I wouldn't be here right now.
Now that I am here, I am free to just do whatever. Pack up and go to Paris for the weekend. Without having to bring someone along with me. heh.

Although, boys ARE nice additions.

Friday the 13th.

Two in a row! This month AND next month both have a Friday the 13th. crazy. Not really. heh.

Ulli just came and asked me what day I leave, so she can book an appointment for the twins and I can stay home with Lisa. I didn't realize I leave in just over a month. That is CRAZY. I am looking forward to the visit at home, but at the same time...10 days isn't enough. Something funny though: I leave London shortly after 5pm, and arrive in Vancouver just before 8pm. Yes, under 3 hours for a 10 hour flight. I love time zones. They totally screw me up.

I am going dirndl shopping this week, as mentioned before, and I am thinking if I find one I will wear it off the airplane when I go home. That would be epic.

Work is going to be crazy this week )

I'm le tired. Nap time.
